I participated in the Welsh National Opera, Co Opera of the Witch in the Woods in 2015. This was a project run by The Mayflower Theatre engage team.

It was a very interesting experience as I hadn't realised how similar Opera was to Musicals. We created our own show that evolved around the differences between the rich and poor. We learned and created our own songs to help build on the atmosphere and the storytelling of the show.

I was pleasantly surprised with the opportunity to go to the Millennium Centre in Cardiff, at which I saw the Marriage of Figaro Opera and In Parenthisis. The date we arrived in Cardiff was the premiere of In Parenthisis, and the WNO Field was live; a large scale public installation and memorial for 923 Royal Welch Fusiliers who died at The Battle of the Somme during the WWI and have no known grave.

923 motion sensitive lights represented the many fallen fusiliers whose names are inscribed on the Thiepval Memorial in France. Some of these men would have served with the author of In Parenthesis, David Jones, during the battle at Mametz Wood in July 1916.

It was a fantastic project to be a part of and I thoroughly enjoyed working with all the team.
